📖 A prospective population-based cohort study, recently published in JAMA 🏥, shows that higher intake of butter is associated with increased mortality ⚠️, while higher plant-based oils intake was associated with lower mortality ✅. Substituting butter with plant-based oils may confer substantial benefits for preventing premature deaths.
🌍 IMACE welcomes these results as margarine and vegetable spreads are made of healthy plant-based oils (including safflower, soybean 🌱, corn 🌽, canola, and olive oil 🫒 that showed the highest scores in the study) that contribute to a healthy and balanced diet 🥗.
