STEFANO SAVI joined the RSPO as the Communications Manager in mid April 2013. In his current role as the Global Outreach & Engagement Director, based in Kuala Lumpur, he is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of RSPO’s outreach and engagement strategy through stakeholders management, media relations and speaker platforms. A physics gradu- ate with extensive experience in various sectors including the energy and utilities market both in continental Europe and the
UK, considers his role in RSPO as his responsibility to raise awareness on one of today’s most crucial sustainability challenges. The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative on sustainable palm oil. Members of RSPO, and participants in its activities come from many different backgrounds, including plantation companies, processors and traders, consumer goods manufacturers and retailers of palm oil products, financial institutions, environmental NGOs and so- cial NGOs, from many countries that produce or use palm oil. The RSPO vision is to “transform the markets by making sustain- able palm oil the norm”.
IMACE and its members are committed to a sustainable production of margarine and vegetable oil spreads, and have embraced sustainability as one of their priorities for the years to come. They are proactively following and supporting sustainability policies. Over the years, margarine manufacturers have improved
the sustainable production of their products considerably, i.e. by increasing the sustainable sourcing of oils, reducing the emissions from transport and production, and limiting waste and water usage in their
factories. IMACE’s affiliate membership of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and its involvement in the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) are initiatives proving IMACE and its members’ commitment to a more sustainable production of margarines and vegetable oil spreads.
